Over the past four years, trade exchanges between the UAE and India have reached a staggering تريليون درهم, highlighting the robust economic relationship between these two nations. As both countries continue to deepen their commercial ties, the data showcases significant figures regarding imports, exports, and re-exports. Through mutual cooperation and strategic investments, the UAE and India have established themselves as key partners in the global marketplace, paving the way for further growth in the coming years.

Trade Dynamics: A Comprehensive Overview

From January 2021 to September 2025, trade exchanges between the UAE and India demonstrated impressive figures, with imports to the UAE accounting for 51% of their total trade, amounting to ريال 509 billion. This highlights India’s leading position as a trading partner for the UAE, emphasizing the importance of Indian products in the UAE market. Indian goods have seen high demand, driving substantial growth in bilateral trade.

Conversely, UAE exports to India also flourished, representing 28% of the total non-oil trade between the two nations, totaling around ريال 279 billion. The diverse range of Emirati products thriving in the Indian market showcases the UAE’s manufacturing capabilities and the mutual benefits arising from this strong economic partnership. Additionally, re-exported goods between the countries constituted 21% of the total trade, valued at approximately ريال 210 billion, further illustrating the dynamic nature of their trade relations.

Recent Trends and Developments

The data from last year revealed significant advancements in trade, with a non-oil commodity trade volume of approximately $205.6 billion in just the first nine months. Imports led this surge, contributing 47.7% to total trade during the initial half of the year, amounting to ريال 98.1 billion. This pattern reflects a bounce-back following the pandemic, and the growth trajectory seems promising as both countries continue to bolster their trade ties.

Exports from the UAE during this period performed strongly as well, accounting for 35.5% of total trade, which equals ريال 73 billion. Meanwhile, re-exports contributed about 16.4%, valued at roughly ريال 33.5 billion. These figures confirm the UAE’s vital role as a trading hub in the region and its ability to cater to Indian demand effectively.

Investment Ventures and Business Expansion

Alongside trade, investment initiatives have seen significant growth, predominantly driven by private sector momentum. The UAE stands out as the seventh-largest investor in India, with cumulative investments nearing $10 billion. Key players such as the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Mubadala, and DP World have made substantial contributions in sectors including energy, infrastructure, and logistics.

Moreover, the first half of 2025 saw the entry of over 22,400 new Indian companies into the UAE market, raising the total number of Indian businesses operating in the Emirates to approximately 265,000. These companies span various sectors such as technology, renewable and traditional energy, healthcare, food security, and artificial intelligence. Notably, Indian buyers are set to become major players in the residential property market in Dubai, anticipated to dominate in 2026.

The burgeoning trade exchanges and accelerating investments are indicative of a promising future for the economic partnership between the UAE and India. With both nations poised to capitalize on each other’s strengths, the potential for growth remains immense.
