The Dubai International Quran Award is one of the most significant global platforms that promotes Quranic culture, aiming to offer substantial prizes exceeding 12 million dirhams. Since its inception in 1997, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the award seeks to support Quranic talents and enhance the community’s understanding of the Book of God through local and international competitions and various events.
Vision of the Award and Its Global Aspirations
The Dubai International Quran Award operates with a strategic vision aimed at being an inspiring model in providing support for the service of the Quran both locally and internationally. Its mission is to spread Quranic culture and sciences through sustainable initiatives and programs that range from local to international competitions. Since the commencement of its first session in Ramadan 1997, the award has invested in nurturing Quranic talents, contributing to the dissemination of Quranic awareness and enlightenment worldwide.
Historical Additions That Enhance the Award’s Prestige
The Dubai International Quran Award has become the highest-valued award globally, thanks to the substantial prizes announced in its current session, which total over 12 million dirhams. One million dollars has been allocated to the winners of the first place in both the male and female categories, in addition to a million-dollar prize for the global Quranic personality. This session also marks the first time female participants have the opportunity to compete in a separate category, reflecting the significant progress the award has made in promoting the role of women in the Quranic field.
Nomination and Judging Mechanisms
With 5,618 competitors from 105 countries, the applications underwent a thorough evaluation to ensure equality among all participants. The evaluation of the submissions was divided into two phases; the first included recorded recitations and focused on the rules of Tajweed. Through these criteria, 525 Quranic talents were qualified, with 6 of them advancing to the final rounds, demonstrating the award’s commitment to making participation accessible to all.
The Award’s Efforts in Promoting Quranic Culture
The award continually strives to enhance the spiritual connection to the Book of God by introducing new mechanisms such as public voting. These initiatives aim to expand the participation base and make millions around the world partners in selecting the most beautiful Quranic voices. In a statement by Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, he confirmed that the award continues to pursue its aspirations to enhance its global reputation and support the Book of God, highlighting its ongoing commitment to achieving its noble objectives.
