Ramadan Forum Highlights Need for Reliable Medical Information

In recent discussions, the Ramadan Council has taken center stage, emphasizing the critical need to discern reliable medical information in our fast-paced world. With the proliferation of data available, understanding how to identify trustworthy sources has become essential, particularly in the realm of health. This article explores insights shared during the Ramadan session that aims to foster awareness of credible medical resources.

During the third session of the Ramadan Council, Dr. Adel Al-Sajwani, a family medicine consultant at Mediclinic Middle East, led the dialogue. The event was organized by the Sharjah Press Club under the Media Office of the Sharjah Government and took place on Wednesday evening at the Samra Tent in the Al-Jada area of Sharjah. The session was titled “Public Health and Quality of Life: How to Protect Ourselves in the Fast Pace of Life,” featuring contributions from Professor Dr. Hani Abdul Jawad.

Dr. Al-Sajwani highlighted the concept of health from a comprehensive perspective that integrates prevention and treatment while stressing the importance of awareness regarding reliable medical information. His statements, shared with Sharjah 24, reiterated that health should be viewed as a shared responsibility. He emphasized that maintaining good health starts with preventive measures and adopting healthy lifestyles rather than solely relying on treatments after illness has occurred. He particularly warned against the danger of accepting information from social media without verifying its scientific credibility.

Additionally, the family medicine consultant at Mediclinic Middle East noted that artificial intelligence technologies serve as supportive tools in disseminating health information, yet they cannot replace direct medical consultation or specialized evaluation. The insights shared during this important discussion underscored the necessity of being vigilant about the sources of medical information we consume.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Al-Sajwani pointed out that the holy month of Ramadan offers a unique opportunity to strengthen human values. He noted that compassion positively impacts mental health, which is foundational for overall physical well-being. He urged the audience to work towards creating a healthy community, free from diseases, stressing that enhanced awareness of reliable medical information is essential for achieving this goal.
