In a significant move to enhance cross-border collaboration, a delegation from the Sharjah Committee for Borders and Checkpoints visited the Al Rawda border point in Oman. Headed by Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Raisi, Director of Border Points and Checkpoints at Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority, this visit was conducted under the directives of Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Authority. The primary aim of the trip was to foster cooperative relations and streamline operational protocols between the two neighboring countries.
According to Sharjah 24, the Sharjah delegation met with Brigadier Abdulrahman bin Amer Al-Kiyoumi, the Police Chief of Al Buraimi Governorate. The purpose of this encounter was to strengthen mutual coordination and collaboration between the two sides. The visit included a coordination meeting attended by representatives from Oman’s police, passports, customs, as well as the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Water Resources and the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. Meanwhile, the Sharjah delegation comprised members from the General Administration of Ports, Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Customs, and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
During the meeting, participants discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Al Madam and Al Rawda border points, focusing on operational aspects to unify procedures and streamline work mechanisms. This approach aims to facilitate the movement of goods, improve efficiency, and enhance trade flow between the two friendly nations. Furthermore, both parties reviewed the preparedness of the border points to implement customs clearance operations for commercial goods and plant and animal shipments starting from February 9, showcasing operational readiness for the upcoming phase.
This visit is part of the strong brotherly ties that bind the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman, further guided by the recommendations of the Joint UAE-Oman Follow-Up Committee. Such collaborative efforts are expected to offer advanced customs services and provide necessary facilitation for enhancing trade exchanges between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Al-Raisi presented a symbolic gift to Brigadier Al-Kiyoumi, comprising the comprehensive historical encyclopedia of Oman titled “The Sultan of Histories,” authored by His Highness Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. This gesture reinforces the commitment to strengthen cultural ties alongside economic cooperation.
