A Treasure Trove of Knowledge
This historical offering is not merely a collection of facts but a treasure trove of information that illuminates a pivotal era in the region’s history. The rigorous documentation is backed by original Portuguese archives and primary sources, allowing readers to engage with the complexities of the Portuguese impact on the Sea of Oman. Sheikh Al Qasimi asserts, “I promise to continue researching and writing about Portugal’s history.” This ongoing commitment ensures that the narrative surrounding Portuguese influence remains vibrant and accurate, contributing greatly to a more balanced understanding of historical interrelations.
Moreover, the publication reflects a broader educational mission led by Sheikh Al Qasimi, promoting cross-cultural dialogue and a deeper appreciation of shared histories. His ongoing efforts to digitize and preserve Arabic manuscripts further reinforce this framework, positioning Sharjah as a pivotal player in cross-cultural scholarship.
As Sheikh Al Qasimi explored rare Arabic manuscripts at the Lisbon Academy, he underscored the importance of restoring these invaluable artifacts. With 90 manuscripts slated for restoration, this initiative will breathe new life into crucial historical documents, ensuring they are accessible for future generations.
Through these projects, Sheikh Al Qasimi not only highlights the cultural ties between Sharjah and Portugal but also fosters a global discourse around the importance of historical awareness and cultural preservation.
