The initiatives undertaken by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) embody a profound commitment to sustainability and hope amid the pressing climate crisis. As a vital player in the UAE’s efforts to foster a greener future, DEWA’s involvement in cultural and educational events marks a pivotal approach toward raising awareness and encouraging community participation in environmental preservation.
Engagement at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature
As a steadfast “sustainability partner” of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature 2026, DEWA hosted an insightful discussion on sustainability and climate within the framework of the festival’s 18th edition, which took place from January 21 to 27. The session aimed to highlight the importance of addressing climate challenges through cultural engagement.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council of Energy in Dubai and the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, expressed, “Our organization continues to support the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature for the tenth consecutive year as a ‘sustainability partner,’ in line with our efforts to establish the UAE as a capital of content, culture, and knowledge.” He further emphasized the significance of inspiring events that promote reading as a primary driver for progress, ensuring a brighter and greener future.
Focused Discussions on Hope Amid Climate Crisis
The sustainability and innovation center, located within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, hosted the dialogue session entitled “Hope Amid the Climate Crisis,” presented by Dr. Thomas Doherty, author of “Overcoming Climate Anxiety.” This engaging session attracted a diverse audience, including students and climate enthusiasts dedicated to environmental protection and resource conservation.
The participants were also taken on an educational tour of the center, a prominent landmark in Dubai that serves as a key destination for those looking to explore groundbreaking innovations in renewable and clean energy technologies. The unique experience provided visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing efforts within the field.
