Ras Al Khaimah Welcomes Record 1.35 Million Visitors in 2025

The tourism sector in Ras Al Khaimah achieved a remarkable milestone by welcoming 1.35 million visitors in 2025, marking a significant growth of 6% year-on-year. This impressive performance is accompanied by a 12% increase in sector revenues, as reported by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority. This article delves into the various factors that have contributed to this record performance.

Impressive Growth Metrics

According to Philippa Harrison, the CEO of the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, the year 2025 was pivotal for the emirate’s tourism journey. “We achieved strong visitor growth coupled with enhanced quality in tourist experiences through the launch of specialized events, new hotel projects, and multiple strategic partnerships,” she stated. The authority is committed to an ambitious vision aimed at establishing Ras Al Khaimah as a comprehensive global destination by 2030, ensuring sustainable value for visitors, investors, and the local community.

This record-breaking performance was bolstered by significant accomplishments in infrastructure, investment, events, and sustainability. Additionally, there was robust growth in key markets, with revenue from meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions, and weddings rising by over 25%. The continuous expansion of luxury hotel offerings and the attraction of prestigious global brands also played a crucial role.

Domestic and International Growth

Harrison noted that Ras Al Khaimah experienced notable growth in the domestic market, increasing by 7%, while visitor numbers surged from several major international markets. For instance, India recorded a 14% increase, China 19%, the United Kingdom 10%, and Russia 20%. Enhanced direct air connectivity contributed to significant visitor increases from Romania (41%), Poland (22%), Uzbekistan (19%), and Belarus (26%). Moreover, the emirate has established itself as an emerging regional hub for business tourism, driven by its strategic location and improved infrastructure, leading to greater demand for international conferences, incentive trips, and luxury wedding events.

Leadership and Strategic Expansion

The appointment of Philippa Harrison as CEO signals a new chapter in the development of Ras Al Khaimah’s tourism sector, leveraging her past experience in leading the Australian national tourism strategy. This decision aligns with the emirate’s ambition to attract over 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030.

In 2025, the opening of the “Rove Marjan Island” hotel and the “SO Ras Al Khaimah” resort, part of the Accor Group, introduced stylish accommodation options along the waterfront. Additionally, new hotel projects from world-renowned luxury brands, including “Jano,” “Four Seasons,” “Fairmont,” “Taj,” and “NH Collection,” were announced. These initiatives support the emirate’s goal of doubling its hotel room inventory by 2030.

Global Events and Cultural Significance

Ras Al Khaimah consolidated its cultural and sporting stature by hosting a series of significant events, including the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, which attracted over 10,000 participants, and the UAE Tour, covering the Jebel Jais route. The cultural landscape was enhanced by the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival, which brought together more than 100 international artists. The emirate successfully hosted the inaugural Global Real Estate and Investment Summit and celebrated the New Year with a Guinness World Record performance featuring 2,300 drones, followed by a spectacular fireworks display stretching six kilometers.

As 2025 came to a close, Ras Al Khaimah showcased its commitment to expanding air connectivity and marine tourism. Direct flights were launched from several markets, including Saudi Arabia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and the Czech Republic, in cooperation with airlines like IndiGo, Air India Express, and Air Arabia. Plans for a dedicated terminal for VIP guests and private jet hangars at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, set to open in 2027, were also unveiled, adhering to sustainability standards.

In terms of marine tourism, the emirate formed a long-term strategic partnership with Celestial Cruises to attract luxury cruise ships, position itself as a notable stop in the Arabian Gulf, and bolster the tourism experience.

International Partnerships and Recognition

Harrison highlighted that the authority has strengthened its partnerships with online booking platforms in China and Saudi Arabia, alongside joining luxury travel networks such as Virtuoso and Serendipians, enhancing its status as a premier global destination.

In embracing a human-centric approach, the authority launched the “Be A RAK” application to boost employee engagement within the sector. Furthermore, the first edition of the Tourism Excellence Awards was organized, and the authority was honored with the “Best Work Environment in the Government Sector” award across the GCC. This recognition underscores the importance of investing in human resources as the foundation for delivering a world-class tourism experience.
