Sharjah Libraries Conclude Their Centenary Celebrations
The Sharjah Public Libraries have concluded their centenary celebrations, organizing a series of innovative activities that highlight the importance of culture and reading in society. This year witnessed significant engagement with events targeting children and youth, aiming to promote a culture of reading and build an effective knowledge-based community. Through a variety of activities such as theatrical performances and workshops, we saw how Sharjah Libraries play a vital role in developing arts and creativity.
Special Celebration with an Interactive Theatrical Performance
The Sharjah Public Libraries wrapped up their centenary celebration program with an interactive theatrical performance held in the heart of Sharjah. The performance, in collaboration with “Quarter Century for Theater and Performing Arts,” featured a puppet show designed to engage children aged 6 to 13. Through the character of “the Narrator,” the puppeteer took the children on a journey through time, highlighting significant milestones in the history of Sharjah Libraries.
Art Workshops to Enhance Creativity
Alongside the theatrical performance, the Sharjah Libraries offered children a hands-on workshop for puppet-making. This workshop provided children with the opportunity to learn about the art of puppet design, from initial drawing to movement mechanics. This activity contributed to the development of their creative skills and gave them a deeper insight into cultural heritage. These activities are an integral part of the efforts to enhance cultural awareness in the community.
Photography as a Means of Expression
In addition to the aforementioned activities, the Sharjah Public Libraries conducted two interactive workshops at Kshisha Park. The first workshop, organized in collaboration with Shurooq Foundation, focused on the fundamentals of creative photography. Its goal was to introduce children to reading texts and extracting visual ideas, allowing them to transform stories and poems into images that express their themes. The second workshop, held in collaboration with Fun Foundation, provided a practical experience in converting texts into visual compositions, reflecting the cultural diversity and artistic creativity embraced by Sharjah Libraries.
In conclusion, it was clear that Sharjah Libraries are not just a place for books; they are a vibrant platform that promotes knowledge and culture in the community, playing a key role in academic and artistic creativity.
