IMF Concludes Workshop to Enhance Content Creation Expertise

The International Monetary Fund recently concluded a specialized workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of content creators in the Middle East and North Africa. This workshop, titled “Skill Development for Economic Content Creation on Social Media and the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Media,” was organized by the IMF’s Regional Office in Riyadh, in collaboration with the New Media Academy. With a focus on financial journalism, the event attracted participants from various countries, emphasizing the critical role of effective media in shaping economic discourse.

Collaborative Efforts for Skill Enhancement

Organized by the International Monetary Fund in collaboration with the New Media Academy, the workshop featured distinguished speakers and experts in content creation. The panel included key figures such as Wafa Amro, the IMF’s Senior Communications Officer; Dr. Abdulaziz Nune, the Director of the IMF’s Regional Office in Riyadh; and Dr. Sami Ben Nasser, Director of the IMF Center for Economics and Finance in the Middle East. The presence of experienced professionals underscored the IMF’s commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of economic issues through effective communication.

Focus on Economic Content and AI

The workshop provided a platform for participants to engage in discussions about relevant economic and financial issues impacting the region. They explored best practices for creating accessible and straightforward economic content tailored for social media. Emphasizing storytelling, the sessions aimed to support content creators in producing meaningful financial narratives that resonate with diverse audiences across various demographics.

Importance of Simplifying Economic Narratives

Participants emphasized the role of artificial intelligence and influential content creators in reshaping the media landscape within the region. They highlighted the necessity of simplifying complex economic and financial terms for a broader audience, especially for the younger generation. As the use of social media proliferates among youth, this approach is essential for engaging them effectively.

Youth Engagement in Economic Discourse

Hussein Al-Attouli, Director of the New Media Academy, remarked, “The workshop aims to facilitate the work of journalists and content creators in producing objective economic and financial content, thus deepening the youth’s understanding of these issues with clarity and transparency.” With young users, especially Generation Z, comprising a significant portion of social media engagement, understanding their impact on global economic dynamics is vital. Their consumer power is projected to reach $12.6 trillion annually by 2030, making them a driving force in digital commerce.

Building Bridges for Clear Communication

Dr. Abdulaziz Nune recognized the public’s desire for clear and human-centric economic stories, stating, “The audience across the Middle East and North Africa is looking for accurate economic narratives. Our regional office is keen on strengthening partnerships with the New Media Academy and content creators to translate complex economic stories into simple terms.” Wafa Amro further added, “This workshop is part of the IMF’s interaction with global media and social media content producers, highlighting how to leverage IMF research, including studies on artificial intelligence, to create impactful content that clarifies how sound policies can enhance economic outcomes and improve people’s quality of life.”
