Higher education institutions are turning their attention to the National Internship Platform, representing an important step in supporting coordination between education and the labor market. Recently, a virtual workshop organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research highlighted the features and usage of this effective platform, which aims to enhance students’ readiness for job requirements across various sectors. The workshop saw participation from 46 universities, underscoring the significance of the National Platform in providing an innovative educational environment.
Workshop: Enhancing Understanding of the Platform’s Mechanisms
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research held a virtual workshop to introduce higher education institutions in the country to the key features and mechanisms of using the National Internship Platform for students. This initiative was in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council as part of the “Nafis” program.
Workshop organizers noted significant engagement, with over 350 academic staff from 46 higher education institutions in attendance. Guidelines and usage mechanisms were presented, along with detailed plans on how to effectively utilize the platform. Guidance was also provided on how students can benefit from the available internship opportunities.
Internship Opportunities and Registration Mechanisms
The workshop also discussed the registration mechanisms on the platform and how to manage internship contracts and selection criteria for training entities. One of the primary goals was to support the quality of educational outcomes, ensuring that students are aware of ways to enhance their learning experiences in line with labor market requirements.
The National Internship Platform is a strategic initiative aimed at achieving integration between educational institutions and economic sectors. It allows university students to register for available internship opportunities and enhances the role of universities as key partners in building a knowledge-based economy centered on skills and innovation.
Enhancing Integration Between Theory and Practice
The platform provides an opportunity for both government and private sector institutions to showcase available training placements, contributing to the preparation of qualified generations equipped with the necessary experience to enter the labor market. By enabling students to participate in high-quality training programs, the National Platform successfully supports national efforts to develop a knowledge-based economy.
The platform aims to connect educational institutions with training entities, starting from accrediting training institutions, recommending students, to evaluating performance. This integration reflects the importance of higher education in supporting the broader community and enhancing economic development in the country.
The National Internship Platform is not just an educational tool; it is a new gateway for empowering youth and developing their skills to meet the needs of the modern age.
