The Dubai Airshow has once again demonstrated its prominence in the aerospace industry, significantly surpassing the British Farnborough Airshow in its 19th edition, which recently concluded. With record-breaking transactions, international participation, and an astonishing number of visitors, the exhibit has solidified its status as the foremost platform for aviation and space. The key takeaway is the remarkable superiority of the Dubai Airshow over its British counterpart.
Record-Breaking Transactions
In the latest iteration of the Dubai Airshow, the event secured outstanding deals that totaled over $202 billion (around 741.74 billion dirhams), showcasing a considerable lead over the previous edition of the Farnborough Airshow in 2024, which amassed only $105 billion (about 385.56 billion dirhams) in transactions. This stark contrast highlights how the Dubai Airshow leaves the Farnborough Airshow far behind in financial accomplishments.
An Unmatched Attendance
The Dubai Airshow attracted an unprecedented audience of 248,788 attendees, composed of experts, specialists, and decision-makers. This figure stands in sharp contrast to the more than 100,000 visitors that graced the Farnborough Airshow. According to data reviewed by “Emarat Al Youm,” the event in Dubai featured participation from 1,500 exhibitors from around the world, including 440 newcomers, as well as 490 military and civilian delegations from 115 countries.
A Shift in Industry Dynamics
This considerable disparity between the two exhibitions signals a shift in the balance of power within the aviation sector, moving towards the Dubai region. The 19th edition of the Dubai Airshow has garnered praise for reaffirming Dubai’s status as a global capital of aviation and space. With a staggering 100% growth in announced deals compared to the previous edition, which closed at $101 billion in 2023, it emphasizes the international confidence in Dubai as a crucial platform shaping the future of aviation.
The Future Begins Here
Operating under the theme “The Future Begins Here,” the Dubai Airshow 2025 effectively served as an international venue for industry leaders to envision the next generation of civil and military aviation technologies. It has cultivated an environment conducive to strategic decision-making for the future while solidifying its role as a pivotal hub for investments and advanced technologies. By showcasing the latest trends and innovations, including the development of the world’s largest airports and revolutionary new technologies, the Dubai Airshow maintains its significance in defining the future landscape of the global aviation industry.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, remarked, “The Dubai Airshow 2025 brought together a distinguished gathering of decision-makers and pioneers in the aviation, space, and defense sectors from around the world, contributing to shaping the forthcoming phases of industry development.” He expressed gratitude to the organizing committee and the teams behind the event, crediting their commitment and continuous efforts for delivering a groundbreaking edition that solidified the Dubai Airshow’s status as a major global influencer in the future of aviation.
The 19th edition of the Dubai Airshow recorded the highest participation in its history from visitors and experts, further establishing its reputation as a critical gathering in the global aerospace landscape.
