Dubai’s Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab: ‘More Than Just a Resort’ Says Hotel Boss
Strategically positioned along Dubai’s stunning coastline, the Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab is being hailed as a remarkable evolution in high-end hospitality. According to the hotel’s managing director, this establishment is “more than just a resort” — it’s a destination meticulously crafted to deliver transformative experiences for its guests. In an exclusive interview, he elaborated on how Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab sets a new standard for luxury, wellness, and cultural engagement in the region.
“This integration of luxury, innovation, and well-being ensures that Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab is more than just a resort—it’s a destination designed to offer transformative experiences that set a new benchmark for hospitality in the region,” noted Dursun in a conversation with Arabian Business.
Nestled next to the iconic Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel, the new resort completes what the company refers to as its “nautical trilogy.” Designed by Shaun Killa, the property encompasses 386 sea-facing rooms and suites, private residences, a marina, a comprehensive wellness and spa centre spanning three floors, and an impressive array of 11 dining venues.
The Future of Luxury Travel
As part of Jumeirah Group’s expansive Mission 2030 strategy to double its portfolio, Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab was conceived in response to evolving traveler aspirations. Dursun remarked, “Travellers are now prioritising thoughtful experiences over material opulence, seeking unique and culturally rich stays. We’re integrating wellness, immersive culinary excellence, and cultural-led experiences that keep the hotel at the forefront of the booming industry.”
The resort boasts the Talise Spa, which spans three levels and introduces the UAE’s first Remedy Suite. This innovative space includes cutting-edge treatments like Cryotherapy, ChromoSpace light therapy, and a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber. Additional wellness features include a dedicated female-only floor, a 20-meter indoor pool, and a performance-driven fitness studio.
“The Remedy Suite, a first in Dubai, offers innovative therapies such as Cryotherapy, ChromoSpace light treatments, the iDome Infra-Red Triple Detox Treatment, and a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber. This aims to offer a 360-degree approach that extends beyond conventional spa treatments to incorporate mindfulness, nutrition, and performance-driven fitness,” Dursun elaborated.
From the outset, sustainability has been a primary consideration in the resort’s design. “Sustainability is integral to the hotel’s design, with self-shading terraces reducing energy consumption, greywater recycling for irrigation, and energy-efficient lighting,” he explained. This conscientious approach underscores the property’s commitment not only to luxury but also to environmental responsibility.
A female-only floor, 20-meter indoor pool, and performance-focused fitness studio round out the wellness offering.
Dining options form a cornerstone of the guest experience at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, featuring a signature concept called The Fore, a multi-restaurant venue that offers four distinct culinary experiences throughout the day: Umi Kei, Madame Li, Mirabelle, and The Bombay Club. Other notable dining spots include Kinugawa, Rialto, Iliana, and a partnership with celebrated pastry chef Pierre Hermé for the Lobby Lounge.
The resort also showcases cultural collaborations with UAE-based artists and designers, enriching the experience for guests. “Our partnerships with regional creatives create an ever-evolving dialogue between tradition and modernity,” Dursun emphasized, reflecting the property’s commitment to cultural integration.
Adapting to New Luxury Demands
Dursun remarked that the property addresses shifting luxury demands by “integrating wellness, immersive culinary excellence, and cultural-led experiences that keep the hotel at the forefront of the booming industry.” He further noted, “Positioned as a distinctive lifestyle destination, our strategy for the coming years revolves around creating memorable guest experiences… and leveraging Dubai’s evolving luxury landscape.”
Initial reactions to the resort have been overwhelmingly positive, particularly in the realms of wellness and dining. “Since opening, Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab has been met with incredible excitement and enthusiasm,” Dursun stated. “Guests have responded strongly to the impressive design and intuitive service.”
Bookings for the ultra-luxury resort officially opened to guests last month with special packages for UAE residents and GCC visitors.
“The combination of around-the-clock service, seamless luxury, and a distinctive sense of discovery has positioned the resort as the ultimate destination for the modern traveller,” Dursun concluded, envisioning a bright future. Bookings for the ultra-luxury Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab officially commenced last month, with enticing packages tailored for UAE residents and visitors from the GCC.
This year, the resort marked a significant milestone when two penthouses were sold for AED706 million through Sotheby’s International Realty in Dubai, highlighting one of the highest-value penthouse deals globally. Each residence includes exclusive amenities such as direct access to a superyacht marina, a private lobby, and dual private elevators.
