Details of the National Rail Network Project
The delegation was led by Shadi Malek, CEO of Etihad Rail, who presented a comprehensive overview of the latest developments related to the National Rail Network project. This initiative is among the largest strategic transportation projects in the country, with freight train services having commenced in February 2023, while passenger trains are scheduled to start operating in 2026.
Connecting the UAE and Oman
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan learned about the UAE-Oman linkage project, which will enhance integration between the two countries through a shared rail network. This project, set to begin implementation in 2024, is being developed in collaboration between Hafeet Rail, Etihad Rail, and Oman Rail.
