The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is working on the completion and development of internal roads in eight residential and industrial areas as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life for residents. These projects, which include hundreds of kilometers of roads, aim to meet the needs of urban expansion and population growth, making “Dubai Roads” a prominent feature in future development plans. The construction work encompasses areas such as Al Khawaneej and Jebel Ali, along with other regions designated for residents.
Significant Achievements in Road Projects
The RTA has completed internal roads in Al Khawaneej Second (Tolerance Neighborhood) and Jebel Ali Industrial First. In Al Khawaneej, six kilometers of paving have been completed, including improvements to connect the area to major streets. Additionally, side parking and street lighting have been installed, along with bicycle lanes. Meanwhile, the project in Jebel Ali Industrial has involved the construction and maintenance of 27 kilometers of roads, where a roundabout has been converted into a traffic signal intersection to improve traffic flow, contributing to enhanced efficiency for heavy vehicles.
Ongoing Road Projects
Currently, the RTA is focusing on developing internal roads in six residential areas, including Al Awir First, where it is working on roads spanning 16.5 kilometers. This project includes the construction of a new entrance connecting the area to Sheikh Zayed Road, effectively doubling the road capacity. Expectations indicate that projects in Al Awir will significantly increase road capacity, with completion anticipated by 2026.
Updates in Nad Al Sheba and Al Warqa
Road development works in Nad Al Sheba First, Third, and Fourth include the addition of new connections and the preparation of sidewalks and bicycle paths, totaling a length of 32 kilometers. The project in the area is expected to be completed by the end of the current year. In Al Warqa, the RTA is updating existing roads and providing new lighting services, benefiting over 350,000 residents.
Wadi Al Amrdi Project
The road project in the Wadi Al Amrdi area involves the implementation of new roads spanning 15 kilometers, with plans to expand existing streets. This project is expected to enhance the capacity of entrances and exits by approximately three thousand vehicles per hour, potentially reducing travel distance from five kilometers to one kilometer, with the project designated to serve over 30,000 residents by 2026.
The RTA continues its efforts to enhance road infrastructure throughout the emirate, contributing to the realization of the leadership’s vision and improving the quality of life for residents. Under the umbrella of “Dubai Roads,” these projects are set to bring significant improvements to the daily commuting experience.
