DEWA Strengthens Collaboration with Chinese Companies in Renewable Energy

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is intensifying its efforts to enhance partnerships in the renewable energy sector through collaboration with leading Chinese companies. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, led a delegation on a visit to China to explore opportunities for cooperation in clean energy projects. This initiative comes at a critical time as DEWA is conducting tenders for the seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, reflecting its commitment to achieving sustainability goals.

Solar Projects Enter a New Phase

DEWA announced that it is currently in the bidding phase for the implementation of the seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which will have a capacity of 2,000 megawatts using photovoltaic solar panel technology. The project also includes a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 1,400 megawatts for six hours. This direction enhances the UAE’s goals of diversifying energy sources and increasing reliance on renewable energy.

Partnerships with Major Chinese Companies

One of the key objectives that the DEWA team aims to achieve is collaboration with major Chinese companies in the field of renewable energy. Al Tayer noted that many leading Chinese firms are involved in DEWA’s projects, particularly in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Among the companies visited during this trip were Huawei, BYD, the Tesla factory, and Sungrow.

Collaboration with Research Institutes and Organizations

The DEWA delegation also visited the CRRC Zhuzhou Institute, which serves as a center for innovation and research in energy technologies. This collaboration is an important step toward improving the technologies used in renewable energy projects and reflects DEWA’s vision of developing advanced and sustainable technological solutions. These initiatives are part of the broader strategy of the emirate toward a better energy future.

DEWA continues to work on strengthening its position as a hub for renewable energy in collaboration with Chinese companies, contributing to the achievement of national goals. The authority remains focused on enhancing service levels and actively participating in global clean energy projects.
