This initiative, aimed at nurturing a robust pool of national expertise in critical sectors, has attracted over 1,000 applicants, emphasizing the country’s commitment to fostering local talent in the AI arena. Out of these, only 25 participants will be selected to join the inaugural cohort, highlighting the competitive nature of this transformative program.

Selection Process and Regional Representation

The selection process reflects a vigorous effort to source talent from across the UAE’s varied emirates. The shortlist includes 80 candidates from Abu Dhabi, 21 from Dubai, 14 from Sharjah, 9 from Ras Al Khaimah, 6 from Ajman, 3 from Umm Al-Quwain, and 2 from Fujairah. This diverse representation underscores the program’s aim of inclusivity, showcasing a wide array of professional expertise from different backgrounds.

Diversity and Professional Depth

Notably, the shortlist demonstrates an extraordinary level of diversity, with women constituting 38% of the candidates—52 participants in total—while men make up 62%, amounting to 83 participants. The professional backgrounds of these candidates also reveal a deep reservoir of experience: 44% have over ten years of experience, and 35% have between five and ten years. This mixture of experience and gender representation reflects the program’s goal of selecting talent that can effectively translate knowledge into practical applications.

Academic Qualifications and Sector Representation

The academic qualifications of the candidates are impressive, with 53% holding master’s degrees and 24% possessing doctoral degrees. This indicates a strong commitment among UAE nationals to advance their technical knowledge and skills. Moreover, the public sector is predominantly represented, with 98 candidates from government roles compared to 37 from the private sector. This aligns with the nation’s direction toward embedding AI technologies within governmental frameworks while ensuring seamless integration with various sectors.

Innovative Ideas and Future Impact

During the evaluation phase, many candidates proposed innovative and actionable ideas targeting diverse sectors, which may evolve into practical projects within the program. This transition from concept to execution is crucial for maximizing the potential impact of AI initiatives. The enthusiasm and interest shown by the candidates not only reflect their individual aspirations but also signal the significance of the مسار الذكاء الاصطناعي program in developing a national platform dedicated to attracting and nurturing talents capable of making substantial contributions to advanced technologies.
