UAE Suspends Visa Processing for Citizens of Three African Nations

In a move aimed at enhancing health security, the United Arab Emirates announced today the suspension of visa issuance for citizens of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan effective immediately. These measures are part of preventive efforts to combat the Ebola virus, which raises global concerns. The decision affects all types of visas, including visitor visas, potentially impacting many citizens and residents of these countries.

Targeted Precautionary Measures

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, along with the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and Customs and Port Security, announced that the decision will take effect from 1:00 PM today. This measure can be renewed based on the developments in the global health situation. The suspension of visa issuance for citizens of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan is intended to enhance readiness to address any potential threats.

Additional Travel Restrictions

In addition to the suspension of visa issuance for citizens of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, strict restrictions have been imposed on the entry of travelers from these countries. Only travelers who have spent more than 21 days outside these countries prior to their arrival in the UAE will be allowed entry, including those arriving via transit flights.

Coordination with International Partners

UAE authorities confirmed that they will continue to monitor developments related to the Ebola virus in coordination with local and international partners. They will assess risks and implement health standards to ensure public safety. These steps are part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and community safety.

These measures contribute to strengthening national preparedness to face any potential epidemics, reflecting the UAE’s strong commitment to protecting its citizens and residents. As cargo flights continue between the UAE and these three countries, authorities remain vigilant and are closely monitoring the latest developments.
