Recently, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, hosted a significant visit from Wang Yi, the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China. This meeting underscored the depth of the strategic comprehensive partnership between the two nations, as both sides engaged in meaningful dialogue regarding various aspects of their bilateral relations. In a climate of mutual respect and shared aspirations, the discussions highlighted key areas of collaboration and the importance of ongoing cooperation.

Enhancing Strategic Ties

During the meeting, both leaders acknowledged the positive developments in the strategic comprehensive partnership that has evolved between the UAE and China. They emphasized that this partnership now meets the hopes and ambitions of their respective leaderships and peoples, fostering progress and prosperity. The two nations have agreed to implement critical agreements established during Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to China, emphasizing their commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations.

Mutual Support on Key Issues

The Chinese side reaffirmed its unwavering support for the UAE in maintaining its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. Correspondingly, the UAE expressed its steadfast commitment to the One China Principle, recognizing Taiwan as an inseparable part of Chinese territory. This mutual respect extends into regional matters, as both parties emphasized their dedication to peacefully resolving disputes over the three islands of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa through bilateral negotiations in accordance with international law.

Collaboration Across Various Sectors

Chinese officials lauded the UAE’s developmental achievements in various fields and expressed their willingness to deepen alignment between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the UAE’s Vision 2031. The partnership aims to accelerate development across multiple sectors, including economy, trade, investment, energy, and technology. Both sides identified opportunities to enhance cooperation in military affairs and law enforcement, highlighting the versatility and reach of their strategic comprehensive partnership.

A Shared Vision for Global Cooperation

In anticipation of future events, the UAE expressed its support for China hosting the second Chinese-Arab Summit in 2026, as well as the second summit between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council. Both nations reiterated their commitment to work closely on these significant occasions. Furthermore, they strive for a lasting peace centered on the two-state solution regarding Palestine, aiming to establish a sovereign and viable Palestinian state living peacefully alongside Israel.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of collaboration within international forums such as the United Nations and BRICS. Both leaders remained committed to advancing the strategic comprehensive partnership between the UAE and China, ensuring a foundation for continued cooperation and mutual benefit.
