Sharjah Volunteer Award Launches Inaugural Workshop for Youth Volunteers

The Sharjah Volunteer Award has launched its first workshop for the “Little Volunteer” program, a transformative initiative aimed at nurturing a spirit of volunteering among children. This effort is part of a broader strategy to instill values of generosity and social responsibility from a young age through engaging, age-appropriate programs and activities. The “Little Volunteer” initiative seeks to cultivate a culture of volunteering that prepares the next generation to actively participate in community service.

Introducing the Concept of Volunteering to Children

The workshop was designed to introduce children to the concept of volunteering and its significance in serving the community. Through simplified methods and interactive discussions, the children had the opportunity to explore various fields of volunteering. The session emphasized that every individual, regardless of age, can positively contribute to their community.

Engaging Activities and Teamwork

Among the various activities, a team-based game was implemented to enhance values of cooperation and teamwork. Additionally, informative leaflets were distributed, crafted to engage children and educate them about volunteering concepts. These materials aimed to motivate them to take initiative and participate in community projects, fostering a sense of responsibility and belonging.

Vision for a Future of Young Volunteers

According to Suad Al Shamsi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Volunteer Award, investing in children is fundamental for developing a community that embraces a volunteering culture. She noted that instilling these values at an early age contributes to shaping future generations who are aware and responsible, understanding their role in community service. Al Shamsi stated, “The ‘Little Volunteer’ program aims to present the concept of volunteering to children in an enjoyable and interactive manner, blending learning with play to promote values of collaboration, initiative, and generosity.”

Commitment to Community Development

Al Shamsi further mentioned that the award is dedicated to developing high-quality programs tailored to various age groups, aimed at spreading the culture of volunteering and reinforcing its role in sustainable community development. She emphasized that children are the leaders of tomorrow, and embedding these values in them today will cultivate future volunteers and leaders of community initiatives.

The “Little Volunteer” program is part of a series of initiatives implemented by the Sharjah Volunteer Award to promote a volunteering culture among community members. The aim is to prepare a generation that believes in the importance of active participation and recognizes volunteering as an essential partner in fostering community cohesion and advancement.
