الشارقة 24:
The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has successfully completed the installation of 520 lighting poles and extended 18,500 kilometres of cabling in various areas of Kalba during the first half of 2026. Notably, the lighting projects in the neighbourhoods of Al-Bardi and Al-Qadsiya have reached 100% completion. Additionally, the lighting in the Jil Al-Dem project is at 90%, with 80% of the lighting poles installed in the industrial area, and 20% of the lighting in the Wadi Al-Helo Tunnel has been accomplished. These initiatives significantly enhance the efficiency of the lighting network across multiple sectors of the city, contributing positively to both urban aesthetics and the safety of road users. This is part of a comprehensive development plan aimed at improving infrastructure and bolstering public safety.
Commitment to Development
Engineer Youssef Al-Hammadi, Director of the Kalba administration at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, affirmed that the authority is committed to executing developmental and lighting projects throughout all areas. This effort aligns with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Enhancing Urban Infrastructure
Al-Hammadi further remarked that the authority’s continued efforts aim to improve infrastructure and elevate public service efficiency across various cities and regions in the Emirate of Sharjah. This initiative follows a specific timeline and plan while enhancing traffic safety, supporting sustainable development, and enhancing the urban appearance of the city. Such advancements provide a better quality of life for both citizens and residents while keeping pace with the rapid urbanisation, population growth, and tourism boom that Kalba is experiencing. Ultimately, these developments directly contribute to strengthening the local economy and creating a more attractive environment for living and investment.
