From 10 to 16 August, Sharjah Airport experienced significant passenger traffic, welcoming over 390,000 travellers during the peak summer travel period as families returned from holiday and prepared for the new school year. The airport recorded more than 175,000 arrivals, approximately 151,000 departures, and over 66,000 transit passengers.

During this period, Sharjah Airport managed 1,175 departing flights and an equal number of arriving flights, connecting to over 100 international destinations. This underscores its role as a regional hub for passenger and cargo movements, linking the airport to a global network for both travellers and freight. The peak day was 15 August, when total passenger movement reached 48,859, with 25,251 arrivals and 23,608 departures, reflecting ongoing travel trends among families and tourists throughout the summer.

Most Active Destinations

The most popular destinations during this time included Cairo, Doha, Dhaka, and Amman, highlighting continued demand for travel to key regional and international markets. These figures demonstrate the effectiveness of Sharjah Airport’s preparations to meet the travel surge during the peak summer season, which was projected to see approximately three million passengers and around 19,000 flight movements across July and August. This was part of a comprehensive operational plan implemented by the airport in collaboration with its strategic partners to manage the ongoing growth in travel demand and ensure smooth operations.

Operational Readiness

Regarding these preparations, Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah International Airport Authority, stated: “The results achieved during the peak travel week at Sharjah Airport reflect our operational readiness and the efficiency of our teams in managing the increase in passenger numbers. This has been coordinated with our strategic partners to ensure seamless operations and expedite travel procedures.”
