In a significant move to bolster housing support for senior citizens and loan beneficiaries, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has signed a partnership agreement with Sakoon Takaful, a leading insurance provider. This agreement aims to create a comprehensive insurance safety net for housing loan recipients, enhancing the sustainability of the housing support system and extending insurance coverage to a broader audience.
Enhancing Housing Support Systems
This new initiative is a continuation of the ministry’s efforts to refine the housing financing framework, particularly following the positive outcomes of last year’s initiative. With the aim of providing insurance coverage for housing loan beneficiaries, this agreement establishes a more inclusive and sustainable framework. It specifically enhances the scope of financial benefits available to citizens who rely on housing loans, with particular attention to senior citizens.
Comprehensive and Extended Coverage
As part of the agreement, the insurance coverage ceiling has been extended to 95 years, ensuring that beneficiaries receive long-term protection. This reflects a government approach focused on broadening access to housing programs by removing previous barriers to financing opportunities. The agreement is a vital component of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program’s financing framework and illustrates the institutional collaboration between governmental and financial sectors as well as the insurance industry.
Innovative Financing Solutions
The unified insurance coverage provided under this agreement includes provisions for death and permanent total disability, enabling wider accessibility to housing loans and addressing the challenges faced by various demographic groups in securing financing. Engineer Mohammed Al Mansoori, the Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs, expressed that signing this agreement marks a qualitative shift in developing the housing financing ecosystem, integrating advanced insurance protection tools to mitigate risks associated with funding.
Meeting Community Needs
Al Mansoori also noted that the ministry adopts a proactive approach in designing comprehensive solutions tailored to the needs of different community segments, especially senior citizens and retirees. By providing flexible insurance coverage that adapts to aging and financial commitments, beneficiaries can gain increased confidence in the stability of their housing conditions over time. The collaboration among government entities and the banking and insurance sectors forms a fundamental pillar in constructing a resilient and sustainable housing system, adept at responding to economic and social fluctuations.
He emphasized, “This agreement embodies the program’s steadfast commitment to developing a comprehensive and advanced housing support framework that places citizens at its core and responds to their genuine needs throughout various life stages.” The Sheikh Zayed Housing Program continues to build effective strategic partnerships with the financial and insurance sectors, while the expansion of insurance coverage to age 95 clearly showcases the government’s concern for senior citizens and its dedication to ensuring their right to decent and stable housing.
Additionally, he remarked, “This agreement is part of innovative initiatives led by the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program to enhance housing policies and foster partnerships, contributing to the acceleration of housing support processes, improving customer satisfaction, and achieving national objectives regarding quality of life and family stability.”
