Simion Hristov, a talented sailor from Abu Dhabi and a member of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club Academy, clinched first place in the ‘Ilka 4’ category at the prestigious Sarafovo International Sailing Cup held on the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria. This event saw participation from 62 sailors representing four different countries.
Exceptional Performance Under Challenging Conditions
Hristov delivered an outstanding performance despite facing challenging maritime conditions, including strong winds, high waves, and turbulent currents. His ability to navigate these obstacles played a crucial role in securing his victory.
Focused Training and International Exposure
This achievement is part of the Academy’s technical programme aimed at developing its athletes and enhancing their international experience. Hristov recently participated in a training camp and competition in Hungary as part of his preparations for upcoming international events.
Support from the Academy
Khalifa Al Suwaidi, the Academy’s Director, praised Hristov’s accomplishment, highlighting how it reflects the player’s progress and the importance of international training camps in athlete development. He emphasised that the Academy will continue to support its sailors by facilitating participation in external competitions, thereby strengthening Abu Dhabi’s presence in sailing events.
