Under the Guidance of Hamdan bin Mohammed: No Increase in School Fees in Dubai for 2026-2027

In a move that reflects the leadership’s commitment to improving education quality and supporting parents, Dubai’s Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced that there will be no increase in private school fees for the 2026-2027 academic year. This decision is part of a new set of economic measures aimed at meeting families’ needs in a balanced and thoughtful manner, ensuring the stability of the educational environment in Dubai.

Economic Measures and Support for Schools

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai has announced the implementation of a series of economic measures that will enhance the capabilities of educational institutions in the emirate. Among these measures, the renewal fees for licenses and penalties imposed on private schools will be postponed. Early childhood centers will also receive exemptions from renewal fees and deferred penalties, reflecting the leadership’s commitment to accelerating development in the education sector.

Flexibility of the Educational System

Approximately 95% of students receive their education in private schools, demonstrating the educational system’s readiness in Dubai to adapt to various circumstances. The effectiveness of this system is reflected in the continuity of the educational process and the confidence parents have in the quality of education. Many participants in the listening sessions organized by the KHDA expressed their satisfaction with the system’s flexibility and its ability to evolve and enhance the academic content.

Diverse Educational Options and System Resilience

The KHDA provides a variety of educational options for parents, including around 17 different curricula. This is part of ongoing efforts to ensure an educational environment that meets the needs of all students. Through the effective implementation of these measures, Dubai is preparing to provide approximately 7,500 additional school seats in private schools over the next two years, reflecting an effective response to families’ needs.

Emphasis on Quality and Competitiveness

Shamma Al Mansouri, Director of Licensing and Educational Services at the KHDA, noted that “continuity in education within a flexible and sustainable regulatory framework enhances the stability and competitiveness of the sector.” Dubai’s focus on ensuring quality education is one of the main pillars of its strategy for education 2033, aiming to position the emirate as a global center for educational excellence.

There is no doubt that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed’s decision to maintain private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-2027 academic year is a positive step toward supporting parents and ensuring the continuity of education. This represents a model of wisdom and thoughtful planning, reflecting the ongoing commitment to enhancing Dubai’s status as a leading global center in education.
