Dubai Welcomes 8.68 Million International Tourists in 5 Months
Dubai is experiencing a remarkable recovery in its tourism sector, welcoming 8.68 million international tourists during the first five months of this year. These figures reflect the emirate’s ability to attract visitors, compared to 8.12 million tourists during the same period last year, indicating a growth rate of 7%. This report highlights key trends and data related to the tourism sector in Dubai, underscoring its status as a global tourism hub.
Major Sources of Visitors to Dubai
According to statistics released by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Western Europe topped the list of visitor source markets, accounting for 22% of the total number of tourists, with approximately 1.9 million visitors. This was followed by Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Eastern Europe, which collectively represented 16%, equating to about 1.4 million tourists. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries came in third, with over 1.27 million international visitors, highlighting the significance of regional markets.
Growth of Hotel Infrastructure
Dubai continues to enhance its hotel infrastructure, currently boasting more than 153,300 hotel rooms across 825 establishments, a notable increase from 150,000 rooms in 822 establishments last year. The average hotel occupancy rate during this period was 82.9%, reflecting strong demand for accommodations in the emirate. Five-star hotels dominate the market, accounting for 35% of the total rooms.
Accommodation Rates and Revenue Forecasts
Data showed that the average length of stay for guests in Dubai hotels was 3.8 nights, with a total of 19 million room nights booked, an increase from 18.3 million nights last year. In terms of pricing, the average daily room rate reached 620 dirhams, representing a growth of 5%. Additionally, revenue per available room rose to 513 dirhams, reflecting Dubai’s success in enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination.
These figures serve as evidence that Dubai enjoys a strong position and significant trust among visitors from around the world.
