The woman misled the buyer into believing that the watch was a genuine Patek Philippe model, resulting in the substantial monetary loss.
The case began when the man filed a criminal complaint against the woman, accusing her of deceiving him. The court determined that she had indeed sold a fake watch under the guise of authenticity for the total amount of 700,000 AED. Following this, the case was heard in the Dubai Misdemeanours Court, where the woman was fined 10,000 AED, and the counterfeit watch was confiscated. She was also required to repay the full amount fraudulently obtained.
The defendant contested the initial ruling through appeals; however, her arguments were dismissed, confirming the original verdict in March 2025. Eventually, her appeal to the Supreme Court was also rejected, solidifying the criminal judgment as final.
Following the conclusion of the criminal proceedings, the aggrieved plaintiff proceeded to file a civil lawsuit, seeking the recovery of the 700,000 AED along with statutory interest. The civil court concluded that the fraudulent act had indeed caused significant financial harm to the plaintiff and thus ruled in favour of the reimbursement.
