Bahrain’s Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) has recently introduced a comprehensive suite of online property registration services, available on the national portal bahrain.bh. This initiative represents a significant advancement in the Kingdom’s objective to streamline government services and enhance the quality of digital offerings available to its citizens.
The new online property registration services encompass essential functions such as property registration and ownership transfer, application status inquiries, and electronic payments. Developed in collaboration with the Information & eGovernment Authority, these services aim to consolidate public offerings onto a unified platform, supporting the Government Programme 2023–2026, which emphasizes the importance of digitalization and service enhancement.
According to the SLRB, users can access these services using the eKey and the upgraded eKey 2.0 system. With the property registration and ownership transfer service, applicants will benefit from a secure and efficient process that allows them to enter their data and upload necessary documents electronically. The inquiry service also enables users to track their application status, make necessary amendments, and complete payments online.
Bahrain Expands Digital Property Registration
Basim bin Yaqoub Al Hamer, President of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, emphasized that the launch of these services via the national portal marks a pivotal achievement in the Bureau’s digital transformation journey. He highlighted various development projects undertaken throughout the year, such as improvements to digital infrastructure, enhancements to electronic workflow systems, and the implementation of geographic information systems. Additionally, the transition to electronic signatures and the activation of a remote service center have significantly strengthened integration with entities involved in property registration.
Al Hamer revealed that the Bureau is now embarking on a second phase of development projects aimed at bolstering connectivity with both government and private sector stakeholders involved in property registration and ownership transfer. This phase prioritizes data unification, facilitating smoother information exchanges and optimized workflow paths to provide quicker, more reliable, and wholly integrated services within a robust digital governmental ecosystem.
Coordination with the Information and eGovernment Authority has been crucial for ensuring a seamless transition to the new services, meeting all technical and operational requirements. Al Hamer remarked on the mutual commitment to delivering innovative solutions that align with user expectations.
Notably, property registration services were initially launched online through the Bureau’s website in 2020, enabling users to complete transactions without needing to visit service centers. By 2025, the Bureau had successfully processed more than 26,000 registration applications electronically, illustrating the effectiveness of this ongoing digital initiative.
This proactive approach is part of a broader agenda to enhance the quality of real estate services in Bahrain, simplify transaction procedures, and foster stronger collaboration between relevant authorities, all in line with the Kingdom’s overarching digital transformation strategy.
