Maktoum bin Mohammed Directs to Facilitate Tax Services Enhanced by Artificial Intelligence

In a move aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in the tax sector, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Federal Tax Authority. The meeting discussed decisions and strategies related to facilitating tax services supported by artificial intelligence, highlighting the commitment to developing digital systems and improving the lives of individuals and investors in the country.

Enhancing Performance Through Technology

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed reviewed updates on the Authority’s plans to improve its operational systems. These plans aim to promote digital transformation and adopt highly efficient business models, in line with the directives of the wise leadership. The focus on enhancing tax services supported by artificial intelligence will significantly contribute to providing proactive and organized services that improve the quality of life in the UAE.

Achievements of the Federal Tax Authority

The report presented during the meeting indicated that the number of registered corporate taxpayers has risen to approximately 710,000, along with around 573,000 citizens registered for Value Added Tax (VAT). Additionally, 1,767 registrations were made for excise tax, with 899 tax agents in operation. These figures reflect the efforts made by the Authority to achieve significant advancements in tax management.

The Authority’s success in streamlining bureaucracy was also highlighted, having implemented 75 processes during the second cycle of the program, compared to 29 processes in the first cycle. Supporting documents have been automatically submitted, reflecting the efforts made to provide fast and efficient services to citizens.

Shifting Towards Digital Technologies

As part of the Authority’s efforts to expand the use of artificial intelligence technologies, updates on the integrated tax system known as “Emirates Tax” were discussed. This system aims to enhance voluntary compliance and simplify tax processes. The meeting also addressed the electronic invoicing project, which is expected to facilitate tax compliance by providing rapid and secure electronic mechanisms.
