The recent collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce marks a significant milestone in promoting investments between the UAE and the United States. With deep-rooted economic ties, this partnership is set to enhance business opportunities and foster mutual growth in various sectors, including technology, healthcare, and finance. By focusing on investment enhancement, the two chambers aim to create new pathways for businesses to thrive globally.
Strengthening Economic Ties
According to a press release issued yesterday, the memorandum comes against the backdrop of robust economic relations between the United Arab Emirates and the United States, which stands as one of the UAE’s largest global trading partners. Non-oil trade between the two nations has witnessed continuous growth in recent years, backed by expanding cooperation in technology, energy, advanced manufacturing, financial services, and healthcare. Recent data from the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics revealed that the volume of non-oil bilateral trade reached 111 billion AED (approximately 30.2 billion USD) during the first nine months of 2025, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 10.2% compared to 100.7 billion AED (27.4 billion USD) recorded in the same period of 2024.
New Opportunities for Businesses
The UAE hosts thousands of American companies operating across diverse sectors, showcasing ongoing growth in mutual investments that underscore confidence in the business environment and economic prospects in both countries. This memorandum aims to bolster this momentum and provide an institutional platform that supports the growth of shared investments while expanding private sector collaboration between Abu Dhabi and the United States.
Key Objectives of the Memorandum
The cooperation agreement sets ambitious goals to broaden the fields of collaboration in trade and investment, facilitate knowledge transfer, and exchange information regarding markets and trade regulations. Moreover, it aims to organize economic events, exchange trade delegations, and develop joint training programs that foster capability building. By facilitating participation in international events and offering a shared platform to support companies, the memorandum seeks to empower businesses to expand into new markets, thereby promoting sustainable economic partnerships and opening effective communication channels between the business communities.
Committed Leadership
The memorandum was signed by Ali Mohammed Al-Marzouqi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, and Steve Lutes, Vice President for Middle East Affairs at the American Chamber of Commerce, in the presence of several officials from both sides. Al-Marzouqi noted that the signing of this memorandum represents a new milestone in strengthening economic relations with the United States. He emphasized that it reflects the ongoing efforts of the Abu Dhabi Chamber to enhance international partnerships and support the expansion of the private sector into global markets. Al-Marzouqi expressed confidence that this partnership will unlock greater opportunities for Abu Dhabi companies to capitalize on investment and trade prospects while enhancing knowledge sharing and expertise to support business growth and competitiveness on a global scale.
In turn, Steve Lutes articulated that the memorandum demonstrates the commitment of the American Chamber of Commerce to enhance collaboration with partners in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. He expressed enthusiasm for supporting both American and Emirati companies in exploring new investment, technology, and trade opportunities, ultimately strengthening the ties between the business communities of the two nations for the realization of sustainable economic growth.
