All eyes are on the “Best Falconer of 2025” competition organized by the Sharjah Falconers Club. This event celebrates a rich heritage that combines sport with ancient traditions. The competition aims to honor and appreciate the care of falcons, with a full commitment to the latest environmental practices, contributing to the preservation of this rich heritage. As the evaluation process for entries begins, the club is preparing to showcase the best practices in preparing and protecting the environments where these rare birds live.
Commencement of the Evaluation Committee’s Work
The evaluation committee, formed by the Sharjah Falconers Club, has begun its fieldwork to conduct evaluation rounds for the competition. The first round commenced two days ago, visiting sites that meet the basic criteria, primarily that the site is located within the Emirate of Sharjah and hosts at least four falcons. Visits are conducted in the evening, and the team documents and photographs the participating environments, sharing images through the club’s official accounts.
Precise Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation committee relies on a set of precise technical and artistic criteria. These criteria include the location of the “mukhayyar” and its distance from external influences, as well as the level of cleanliness and care for the falcons. The number of falcons is also assessed in relation to the size of the mukhayyar and the number and locations of “mawaker,” as these factors play a crucial role in evaluating the quality of the surrounding environment for the falcons.
Environmental Responsibility and Sustainability
The competition places great importance on sustainability, evaluating the extent of alternative energy use and the implementation of policies to conserve water and electricity. These measures reflect the club’s commitment to the environment and the preservation of the rich heritage associated with falconry. Through these efforts, the Sharjah Falconers Club aims to raise awareness of the importance of environmental practices in all aspects of falcon care.
The “Best Falconer of 2025” competition offers a unique platform to celebrate ancient traditions while maintaining modern environmental innovations. As the evaluation activities commence, hopes are high for 2025 to be a testament to the excellence and care of these magnificent birds, with a balanced preservation of the environment and a rich cultural legacy.
