The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has reported significant growth in the first half of 2025, attracting over 1,100 new companies to its free zone. This impressive influx brings the total number of registered firms within the DMCC to nearly 26,000, underscoring its vital role as a global trade facilitator. With strong international demand and innovative licensing options, the DMCC is solidifying its status as a premier business hub.
Remarkable Growth Driven by International Demand
According to the DMCC, the first half of 2025 saw the addition of more than 1,100 new companies, marking a significant leap towards achieving a total of 26,000 registered businesses. The surge can be attributed to robust demand from key international markets such as China, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, the DMCC’s newly introduced licensing options and expansion strategies in Asia have contributed to this remarkable growth.
Strategic investments in specialized business ecosystems and real estate ambitions under a ten-year growth strategy have also played a central role in attracting global enterprises. The continued expansion of vital areas like Jumeirah Lake Towers and Uptown Dubai, coupled with the launch of major projects and high-end hospitality offerings, reflects the aspirations of the global business community.
Expanding Technology Ecosystem
The technology sector within the DMCC has experienced exceptional growth in early 2025, with the Crypto Centre surpassing 700 registered companies and marking a commendable 38% annual growth. Esteemed global firms such as Bitcoin.com and Animoca have established their first regional offices within the DMCC, catalyzing further expansion. Over 140 gaming companies and more than 110 AI-focused firms have also joined the ecosystem, consolidating the DMCC’s stature as a leading global hub for emerging technologies.
This upward trajectory highlights the DMCC as a premier destination for the third generation of web technologies (Web 3) and other advanced innovations. In January, the DMCC unveiled plans for the Crypto Tower, a 17-story architectural marvel designed to enhance resources for its members, including office spaces, blockchain incubators, and AI innovation rooms. Alongside these developments, the upcoming Quantum initiative aims to bolster innovation in quantum computing, reinforcing Dubai’s reputation as a gateway for advanced sectors.
Significant Achievements in Goods Sector
In the goods sector, the DMCC has made notable strides, further establishing Dubai on the global trade map. The Dubai Diamond Exchange, the world’s largest, welcomed a historic visit from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, coinciding with the announcement that the UAE’s diamond trade has surpassed one billion carats over the past five years. This milestone solidifies Dubai’s position as a global diamond trading capital.
The DMCC also organized its inaugural specialty coffee auction during the World of Coffee exhibition in February, showcasing rare and exquisite coffee varieties that fetched record-breaking prices. Additionally, a strategic partnership with Aqua Index is set to launch the world’s first water-backed digital token, paving the way for innovation and sustainable trade in the water sector.
Strengthening Global Business Relationships
The DMCC continues to affirm its global appeal as a magnet for international investments, with a significant uptick in registrations from British companies, which increased by over 23% year-on-year. The Turkish market also demonstrated robust growth with a 22% increase, bringing the total number of Turkish firms to around 700. Chinese enterprises showed a close to 10% rise, reaching approximately 1,000 registered companies. Further strengthening ties with China, the DMCC forged strategic partnerships in February with Beijing’s Daxing district to enhance trade exchanges.
To support its rapid expansion, the DMCC has introduced two new licensing categories for special purpose entities and holding companies, offering greater flexibility for investment structuring and regional operations management. This initiative has garnered interest from family offices and multinational corporations eager to capitalize on the UAE’s premier business environment.
Continued Urban Development and Luxury Hospitality
The DMCC remains committed to enhancing its urban environment in response to growing demands for space from both businesses and residents. Construction has commenced in Uptown Dubai for two new premium office towers, adding approximately 62,000 square meters of high-end office space. On the residential front, the Mercer House project is underway, featuring twin luxury towers that promise upscale living alongside the region’s first private beach club.
Additionally, the area has welcomed new high-profile hospitality venues, featuring diverse offerings that cater to the vibrant community. Meanwhile, construction is progressing on the W Residences in Jumeirah Lake Towers, part of a comprehensive development strategy that has seen 19 major new projects launched over the past two years.
The impactful results from the DMCC during the first half of 2025 reflect a continuation of its strong momentum from 2024, when it attracted 2,048 new companies and launched the “Sustainability Platform.” As the DMCC enters the latter half of 2025, it remains focused on accelerating growth in advanced technology sectors and sustainable trade, positioning itself as a vital commercial link for investors and entrepreneurs worldwide.
