Sharjah Electricity has installed 17,700 conservation devices for beneficiaries in a move aimed at enhancing the effective consumption of energy and water in the emirate. This initiative is part of the authority’s efforts to encourage sustainable behaviors and improve the efficiency of natural resource consumption among households. Thanks to these efforts, the authority aims to achieve environmental and economic goals that benefit all residents.
Details of the Initiative
The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has completed the installation of 6,228 water conservation devices and 11,546 electricity conservation devices after visiting 1,610 beneficiary homes in the city of Sharjah. This work underscores the significant efforts made by the authority, with a total of 17,774 devices installed since the launch of the new phase of the home conservation initiative in mid-April.
Beneficiaries of the Initiative
More than 7,000 individuals have benefited from this initiative, which is specifically designed for those receiving the inflation allowance in the Emirate of Sharjah. In this regard, Sharjah Electricity reaffirms its commitment to alleviating the financial burdens on citizens and promoting resource sustainability.
Goals and Outcomes of the Initiative
Majid Harimel Al Shamsi, the Executive Director of Institutional Support Services at the authority, stated that “the home conservation initiative contributes to reducing consumption and lowering bills for beneficiaries while achieving sustainability.” Previous initiatives have resulted in a 63% reduction in water consumption and a 55% reduction in lighting consumption. These figures confirm the project’s effectiveness in enhancing resource consumption efficiency.
Awareness and Education
Rashed Al Marzouqi, Director of Media and Communication at the authority, mentioned that the initiative also aims to “raise awareness and educate families and domestic workers on the correct methods and behaviors for conserving electricity and water.” This initiative includes several awareness activities aimed at spreading knowledge about prudent consumption practices among all community members.
