Fostering Youth Engagement in Positive Citizenship Through Dialogue

In a significant initiative aimed at fostering youth empowerment and enhancing positive citizenship, the Abu Dhabi Police‘s Saif Bin Zayed Academy for Law and Security hosted an engaging dialogue session titled “Empowering Youth and Enhancing Positive Citizenship.” This collaborative effort, involving the Federal Youth Foundation, the Abu Dhabi Police Youth Council, and the Al Ain Youth Council, brought together students from various training cohorts to ignite a collective sense of responsibility and awareness among the youth.

The session took place at the administration’s headquarters in Al-Foah, Al Ain, focusing on participants from the professional qualification course, the 22nd batch of national service specialty training, and the seventh edition of tomorrow’s police champions. Its primary objective was to raise awareness among the youth in an interactive setting that blended security expertise with community vision.

Colonel Hussain Ali Al-Junaibi, Director of the Police Rehabilitation Department, highlighted the pivotal role that the Saif Bin Zayed Academy plays in instilling loyalty and a sense of positive citizenship among young people. He emphasized the necessity for quality education and training in security skills that align with the demands of our technological and digital age, including advancements in artificial intelligence. By integrating these values into educational curricula and vocational training, the academy aims to cultivate exemplary students who demonstrate discipline and positive behavior within the community.

Moderated by Muslim Hamoud Al-Dhihri, Chairman of the Al Ain Youth Council, the session explored crucial themes such as the youth’s role in shaping the future. It emphasized the importance of equipping them with essential skills and opportunities, reinforcing their positive contributions to society, and motivating their active participation in community and police initiatives.

Lieutenant Hasan Mohammed Al-Bloushi, a member of the Abu Dhabi Police Youth Council, elaborated on how positive citizenship is pivotal to community security. He asserted that an individual who understands their rights and responsibilities can significantly aid security efforts by complying with laws and reporting suspicious behaviors that may threaten community stability. This understanding fosters concepts of belonging and social responsibility, cultivating a collaborative and supportive environment within society.

Jassem Hassan Al-Obeidi from the Federal Youth Foundation underscored the importance of supporting the youth’s role in comprehensive development. He explained how enabling young people in institutional and community work fosters their sense of loyalty, belonging, and social responsibility. Al-Obeidi discussed the concept of empowerment along with various national initiatives designed to build youth capacities and engage them in community and security-related projects. This approach is critical in enabling them to actively participate in decision-making processes that align with the wise leadership’s vision of creating a secure and sustainable society.

The session concluded with speakers sharing inspiring perspectives and experiences regarding the youth’s significant contributions to community security and positive citizenship. They discussed various challenges youth face and how obstacles can be transformed into opportunities for self-development and service to the nation. Recommendations emphasized the importance of adhering to the customs and traditions of the United Arab Emirates and preserving its rich cultural heritage. The conversations reinforced the belief that young individuals are the backbone of sustainable successes and the future visions laid out by the wise leadership.

The event was attended by Colonel Dr. Ali Khamees Al-Yamahi, Deputy Director of the Police Rehabilitation Department, along with several officers and police personnel. This initiative is part of a broader series of programs and events organized by the Abu Dhabi Police to empower young talents and encourage them to embrace positive initiatives, solidifying the values of positive citizenship and community responsibility.

Through interactive platforms that allow youth to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and propose initiatives, the Abu Dhabi Police remains committed to nurturing a sense of nationalism and individual responsibility among its young citizens.
