In a significant initiative aimed at ensuring the health and safety of workers, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, in conjunction with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, has launched a campaign focused on raising awareness about health practices to prevent heat exhaustion. This campaign, which takes place throughout July and August under the slogan “Your Safety is Our Goal,” coincides with the midday work ban to educate field workers about the risks associated with heat exposure during the summer months.
Campaign Overview
Focusing on the well-being of over 4,000 workers across various sites, the campaign includes ongoing awareness activities throughout Sharjah. By conducting field visits, the initiative particularly targets laborers on construction sites, providing essential information on health protocols to follow in the summer heat. This supports the workers in avoiding the dangers of heat exhaustion by promoting healthy practices.
Extensive Reach
The efforts of the campaign extend to various sectors, addressing not just construction workers but also those employed at gas stations, in cleaning services, public parks, parking lots, and delivery services. The campaign’s outreach includes delivering preventive information and guidelines that help mitigate the risks of heat exhaustion faced by these workers.
Community Involvement
In addition to focusing on laborers and employers in industrial and construction settings, the campaign is also committed to engaging the broader community. Educational activities are organized for various groups, including homemakers and university students, in collaboration with the Emirates Association for Senior Citizens and Al Qasimia University in Sharjah. This comprehensive approach aims to enlighten 10,000 workers as part of an overarching national strategy that underscores the importance of human welfare at the heart of community efforts and aligns with the objectives of the “Year of Community 2025.”
Commitment to Safety
Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarouni, the Director of the Ministry’s representative office in Sharjah, emphasized that the campaign reflects a humanitarian initiative that embodies the values of social responsibility. It aims to safeguard the health and safety of the community by fostering health awareness among all strata, especially workers, to effectively counter the risks of heat exhaustion.
As the summer months intensify, the campaign to raise awareness among workers about health measures for preventing heat exhaustion remains an essential effort, underscoring the commitment to protect those who work tirelessly in challenging conditions, ensuring that their health is prioritized.
