The UAE-based conglomerate G42, alongside five of its portfolio companies, has entered into memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with governmental entities and private sector partners in Greece. This initiative aims to explore opportunities for developing artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and its applications in public services and education.
Collaborative AI Infrastructure Development
Key players in this collaboration include “Khazna Data Centers” and “Core 42,” which will work in partnership with the Greek company “Kopelouzos Group” to investigate the establishment of an AI factory. This facility will integrate advanced data centres with cloud computing capabilities and AI-specific computing resources, targeting sectors such as banking, telecommunications, maritime shipping, and governmental institutions.
Project Leadership and Initial Focus
According to the proposed plan, Khazna will spearhead the development of the physical infrastructure for the project, while Core 42 is set to provide the essential cloud computing and dedicated AI resources required for the operation.
Strengthening Ties Through Official Visit
The signing of the MoUs took place during an official visit to Athens led by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade. This visit included the UAE-Greece Business Forum, as part of G42’s efforts to expand its “Intelligence Network” into Greece, linking data centres and advanced computing with cloud frameworks and specialised applications.
AI in Urban Management
In addition to the primary initiatives, “Prysite” is collaborating with the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance to explore the use of AI-driven analytics in urban management and enhancing public safety. The initial phase will focus on implementing AI applications in municipal waste management and monitoring water networks, relying on synthetic and open data.
