In its inaugural participation in the seventh edition of the “Stevie Awards for the Middle East and North Africa,” Dubai Customs achieved an impressive tally of 17 awards. Dr. Hussam Jumaa, Director of Strategy and Institutional Excellence at Dubai Customs, remarked, “This achievement reflects our visionary leadership’s commitment to leveraging innovation to create a tangible impact on government performance and economic competitiveness. Our approach to empowering trusted trade stems from understanding the needs of the business community and translating those into clear procedures, reliable services, and a flow of goods that integrates speed with protection.” He further noted that their projects focus on enhancing the customer experience, boosting compliance, and preparing the customs system for transformations in global trade.
Dr. Jumaa added, “The successful projects illustrate how tools such as artificial intelligence, smart oversight, partnerships, and foresight work together to serve this direction; from accelerating the classification of goods and tracking shipments to protecting intellectual property rights and transforming future studies into development opportunities. Our priority is to deepen the impact of these capabilities on trade efficiency and foster business community trust in line with Dubai’s economic agenda D33.”

The “Coordinator” platform secured three gold awards in the categories of AI product innovation, product innovation, and technology deployment in customer service.
This platform, in its second version, utilises artificial intelligence and big data analysis to reduce the time required for classifying goods under the Harmonised System code from a full day to just two seconds. It has been utilized by users in 117 countries, assisting clients in accurately classifying goods and enhancing the accuracy of customs data and compliance, while minimising the effort involved in determining product codes, thus improving the experience of conducting trade transactions. According to results announced in August 2025, the platform achieved an adoption rate of 86%, alongside significant growth indicators in AI-supported classification processes and financial savings.
“شاحن”.. رقابة ذكية تعزّز موثوقية حركة البضائع
The “Shahin” system gained recognition with a gold award for Business Services Innovation and a silver for achievement in collaboration and partnerships, due to its role in real-time tracking of trucks and shipments across customs ports.
This system employs satellite technology and smart electronic seals through virtual customs corridors, issuing instant alerts when deviations from designated routes occur, thus enhancing the ability to monitor goods movement and mitigate risks. Its integration with the “Green Corridor” initiative has supported the continuous flow of essential goods, including food and medicine, even amid regional supply chain challenges, showcasing the role of smart oversight in protecting commerce and facilitating its movement. From March 1 to June 30, 2026, the “Green Corridor” initiative facilitated the movement of over 203,000 containers and more than 3.16 million tonnes of goods, valued at over AED 33.9 billion, from 188 countries.
“زيرو”.. حماية الحقوق وقيمة إنسانية مستدامة
The “Zero” project received five awards, including two golds, a silver, and two bronzes, for an initiative that intertwines intellectual property rights protection, the circular economy, and humanitarian work.
This project transformed over 500,000 seized counterfeit goods into resources for remanufacturing, producing more than 250,000 winter clothing items designated for vulnerable communities affected by crises and severe climate conditions. Implemented in collaboration with the Landmark Group for transformation and manufacturing and DP World for logistics and distribution, the project connects the processing of seized goods with safeguarding rights holders, ensuring that counterfeit items do not re-enter the market, reducing the environmental impact of disposal, and yielding humanitarian benefits from recovered resources. Tracking mechanisms for recycled materials through production stages have been applied, with QR codes used to enhance transparency and traceability.

Dubai Customs’ Future Foresight Programme won a gold award for research publications for its foresight reports and a silver for thought leadership, having produced 14 foresight studies, including 8 major reports. The programme developed 84 future scenarios and 40 strategic recommendations, resulting in 17 projects based on its outputs.
The studies and future scenarios encompassed trade, free trade agreements, traveller movements, trademark protection, shipping and inspection processes, security, and the future of Dubai as a global hub for trade and logistics. The programme’s outputs yielded over 40 innovative opportunities, including green corridors, reliable shipping lanes, and mobile inspection units, thus providing a knowledge foundation to support the development of initiatives and decisions while enhancing readiness for upcoming transformations, in alignment with the UAE Centennial 2071 directives. The benefit rate from future scenarios within the future readiness index stood at 66.36% during the 2023-2025 period, according to a weighted calculation based on the number of scenarios.
The programme has also contributed to embedding future foresight methodologies within Dubai Customs’ strategic planning, including drafting the strategic plan for 2026-2030. Dubai Customs has received international institutional accreditation in future foresight from the Global Institute for Innovation Management (GIMI), marking it as the first customs entity in the region to achieve this accolade.
