The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has achieved an impressive 75% completion rate for its 21 service targets in just three months, as announced by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO and Managing Director of DEWA. Of these services, 16 leverage artificial intelligence technologies, showcasing a significant advancement in the Authority’s digital transformation initiatives. Al Tayer confirmed that DEWA is committed to reaching 100% completion over the next three months.

Leadership and Vision

During the twelfth session of the Global Green Economy Summit being held in Dubai, Al Tayer praised the continuous support and guidance from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. He emphasised that this achievement reflects the collective effort of DEWA’s employees, highlighting the essential role of the talent pool within the leadership ranks.

Partnerships for Sustainable Development

Abdul Rahim Sultan, Director General of the Global Green Economy Organisation, spoke on the importance of the summit in fostering practical partnerships between the public and private sectors. He noted the multitude of projects initiated by governments, executed in collaboration with private sector entities. The organisation collaborates with 96 member countries, which present a range of opportunities for work and investment.

Significance of International Conferences

Sultan further explained that international conferences like the Global Green Economy Summit and the upcoming COP conferences significantly enhance collaboration within the public and private sectors. These events provide a platform to showcase government projects undertaken with private sector support. There is a concerted government effort to encourage private sector involvement, particularly prioritising citizen-owned companies in large projects.

Innovations in Cooling Technologies

Ahmed Ben Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), highlighted the UAE’s pioneering advancements in solar energy, water management, and energy conservation. He noted that the nation has made considerable progress in the central cooling sector, positioning Empower as one of the world’s largest central cooling companies, with a production capacity of two million tons of cooling.

The central cooling systems provided by Empower play a crucial role in supporting modern projects within Dubai, effectively enhancing resource efficiency and energy conservation, including both electricity and water.
