(CNN) — You no longer need to shout to be heard over the music in these specialised high-fidelity bars, where the main focus is solely on enjoying the music.
The Emergence of Hi-Fi Bars
The concept of hi-fi bars originated in Japan and is now gaining popularity across the globe, placing vinyl records and calibrated sound systems at the heart of the nightlife experience.
A Unique Experience at Saikindo
In “Saikindo,” located in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, the experience goes beyond just what emanates from the speakers. The cocktail menu analyses the songs played, transforming them into flavours that can be savoured in a drink.
The Role of Music in the Bar Experience
Marco Corallo, the beverage director and music curator at “Saikindo,” stated that music in these bars is “more than just an additional component. It is the main element, influencing every part of the bar.” We spent a day there with Corallo to explore why the world is gravitating towards listening bars and what flavour might be derived from a favourite song inside a glass.
