32 UAE Experts Pioneering AI Projects for National Goals

A group of 32 Emirati experts is currently engaged in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) track of the UAE Experts Programme, where they are developing a series of innovative projects aimed at aligning with the nation’s priorities across various vital sectors. These projects are set to be presented for final evaluation in January 2027 to specialized committees, consisting of 20 leaders and graduates of the programme, alongside several investors.

Launch of the AI Track

The AI track was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Court, in November 2025. Its primary objective is to cultivate a cadre of national specialists capable of developing and guiding AI solutions, while also leveraging advanced technologies to serve the country’s priorities and enhance its competitiveness across multiple domains.

Transformational Journey of the Experts

This initiative marks a significant milestone in the participants’ journey, transitioning them from foundational knowledge and skills acquisition to actively employing their expertise in crafting solutions that address real-world challenges. Such an evolution underscores the pivotal role of national talents in the UAE’s developmental trajectory and its global leadership in the field of AI.

Discussions on National Capacity Building

The UAE Experts Programme’s approach to developing specialized national capacities and linking expertise with the country’s needs and future priorities was a focal point during the session titled “Building National Capacities for the AI Era,” which took place at the 2026 Quantum Computing Innovation Summit in Dubai, concluding on September 30.

Commitment to Skilled Decision Making

Dr. Youssef Al Hammadi, Executive Director of the Knowledge and Leadership Sector at the Early Childhood Authority of Abu Dhabi and a member of the AI track committee, stated, “Our goal is for the Emirati expert to be an active partner in decision-making, contributing to the understanding of advanced technologies and addressing sector needs, as well as assisting in translating this knowledge into practical solutions that serve the nation’s priorities.”

A Comprehensive Development Journey

He noted that the UAE Experts Programme, launched in 2019, embodies this approach through a developmental framework that allows participants to directly engage with governmental leaders, mentors, and experts from various sectors, gaining insights that expand their experience and enhance their capabilities. The current phase is particularly important given the rapid expansion of the UAE’s AI ecosystem, marked by global partnerships, advanced infrastructure, and cutting-edge applications, with a focus on long-term investment in national competencies.

AI Track’s Integrated Development Framework

Ahmed Al Sawah, Project Manager at the Development Affairs Office of the Presidential Court, explained, “The AI track has been designed as a comprehensive developmental journey comprising seven units that blend specialized knowledge, guidance, and practical work, featuring mentors from governmental leadership and technology experts.” He elaborated that the projects being developed by the experts represent the culmination of this journey, with plans to discuss opportunities for their development and conversion of promising ideas into impactful, sustainable solutions.

Specialized Focus on National Priorities

It’s important to note that the AI track is a specialized component of the UAE Experts Programme, aimed at preparing national human resources in the field of artificial intelligence, in alignment with the strategic national priorities across various sectors.
