تجديد شراكة مركز محمد بن راشد للفضاء وCNES لدعم مهام الإمارات القمرية بتقنيات تصوير ومعايرة ودعم تشغيلي ضمن IAC 2026 أنطاليا

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has officially renewed its partnership with France’s National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) to enhance future lunar exploration missions. This significant step forward was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the 2026 International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Antalya, Turkey.

In attendance were Dr Sultan Al Niyadi, UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Eng. Salem Al Marri, Director General of the UAE Space Agency. The agreement was signed by Salem Al Marri, representing the MBRSC, and François Jacq, Chairman and CEO of CNES.

This renewed partnership aims to build upon the technological and scientific collaboration established in previous phases of the UAE’s lunar exploration project. Under the new agreement, CNES will provide advanced imaging technologies, including ‘Caspix’ cameras, a miniature camera unit, and sophisticated lighting systems. Furthermore, the cooperation will leverage CNES’s expertise in camera calibration, image processing, and operational support throughout the mission phases.

This collaboration promises to allow both parties to enhance their knowledge and experience gained from previous cooperation, thereby supporting the scientific requirements of upcoming lunar missions and strengthening the capabilities of the MBRSC in lunar exploration.

Salem Al Marri remarked, “Renewing our partnership with CNES underscores our commitment to strengthening international collaboration and sharing advanced expertise, supporting the execution of future missions, and expanding the horizons of scientific research and technological advancement.”

François Jacq added, “The new memorandum of understanding reflects the UAE and France’s dedication to expanding their cooperation in lunar exploration. Through this ambitious mission, we aim to utilise the expertise and capabilities both sides possess. This collaboration is set to accelerate scientific research and deepen our understanding of the moon’s far side, while also supporting efforts to carry out more future exploration missions.”
