During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), the Strategic Advisory Group on Police (SPAG), chaired by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), hosted a significant side event that highlighted the nation’s ongoing contributions to peacekeeping operations and the enhancement of international peace and security.

The event showcased the pivotal “United Nations Leaders’ Workshop on Peace Operations 2026,” which took place in Abu Dhabi from 31 August to 4 September 2026. This workshop marked a historic first by bringing together leadership from both police and military components of peacekeeping missions, focusing on improving operational readiness and performance while promoting greater integration between the two sectors.
