Frizana, a 36-year-old woman from India, has been battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia since 2024. Currently, she is facing a significant challenge in returning to health, as she requires 45,000 dirhams for the renewal of her health insurance card, a necessity for continuing her treatment sessions and medications. Struggling financially, she is reaching out to compassionate individuals for assistance.
Medical Journey
According to a medical report from Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, which is part of the ‘Seha’ group, Frizana underwent a comprehensive treatment plan that included six chemotherapy sessions. After responding positively to this treatment, she progressed to a preventive stage aimed at combatting the illness.
The report further detailed that she had four additional sessions involving chemotherapy directly into the spinal canal, as well as 13 sessions of radiation therapy, concluding in September 2025. Encouragingly, the latest tests conducted in October 2025 showed negative results for the disease.
A Personal Account of the Struggle
Reflecting on her ordeal, Frizana recounted, “In December 2024, I experienced severe bleeding, which prompted me to visit several private hospitals near my home. Many tests and analyses ultimately revealed I had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.”
“After confirming my diagnosis, I was admitted to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City for more thorough examinations,” she added. “The medical team confirmed the disease, revealing the presence of cancerous cells in my bone marrow.” She spent around 20 days in the hospital, receiving necessary treatment and care.
The Ongoing Fight
Throughout the past few years, Frizana has continued her treatment journey, successfully securing the necessary sessions through the generosity of charitable organisations and kind-hearted donors. Her health insurance has also partially covered some of her medications and sessions.
However, Frizana now faces the daunting prospect of halting her treatment due to her health insurance card expiring. Financially, she is unable to manage the renewal costs of 45,000 dirhams given her current circumstances.
Financial Constraints
Working as a cook in the UAE for over 15 years, Frizana earns a monthly salary of 1,000 dirhams, from which she needs to send half back to her family in India to support their living expenses. The remaining amount barely covers her own essential needs.
Frizana expressed her concern about the possibility of a relapse if she is unable to receive the required medications and treatment sessions. She earnestly appeals to benevolent individuals and those with kind hearts to assist her in covering her health insurance renewal cost.
Frizana:
• “I have worked as a cook in this country for over 15 years and earn a monthly salary of 1,000 dirhams, sending half of that to my mother and siblings in India.”
