With the new academic year on the horizon, over 204,000 students are set to commence their studies in Sharjah‘s private schools this weekend. The Sharjah Private Education Authority has announced its readiness to welcome this growing student population, marking the beginning of the 2026-2027 academic year.
Enhanced Educational Landscape
This year’s academic intake coincides with the launch of six new private schools, boosting the total number of licensed private schools in the emirate to 135. This expansion reflects the continuing growth of the educational sector and aims to meet the increasing demand for diverse educational curricula. The new schools include Advanced Delhi School, Future Indian Gate School, and Vision of Summit Model School, all offering the Indian curriculum, as well as American curriculum institutions such as Impact American School, Dar Al-Uloom School, and Raffles International School.
Additionally, the Sharjah Private Education Authority is focusing on improving educational and administrative capabilities, ensuring that families have access to a broad spectrum of educational options. Alongside school expansions, the new academic year will also see the introduction of seven new licensed nurseries, raising the total to 161, and establishing five licensed early childhood centres.
“مدرستي أسرتي” Initiative
The return to school campaign, “مدرستي أسرتي” (My School, My Family), aims to foster a strong partnership between families and schools. Dr. Mohaditha Yahya Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority and President of Sharjah Academy for Education, emphasised that this initiative is not merely a slogan but a collaborative approach to create environments conducive to the growth of students both intellectually and morally.
Commitment to Safety and Quality
In preparation for the new academic year, the authority conducted 132 field visits to ensure schools comply with established educational and operational standards. This proactive approach guarantees that the educational environment is ready to welcome students from day one. Safety measures are also a primary focus, with 2,737 school buses ready for operation after rigorous safety inspections.
Furthermore, the education authority is prioritising the development of educational and administrative skills. A total of 321 training sessions have been conducted to enhance staff performance and professional skills, ensuring that educators can effectively adapt to the evolving educational landscape. The recruitment of 114 Emirati teachers through the “Teacher and Proud” initiative highlights the commitment to increasing the presence of national talent in the education sector.
Looking Ahead
As the academic year begins on August 31st, Sharjah’s private schools embark on this new chapter under the banner of “مدرستي أسرتي”. This initiative underscores that the success of the educational process relies on the collaboration between schools, families, teachers, and students. The true readiness for the new year encompasses more than just opening school doors; it involves creating safe and stimulating environments that offer students greater opportunities for learning, growth, and excellence, paving the way for a fruitful and successful academic year.
