Celebrating Poetry at Kalba Literary Council
The Eastern Region’s Department of Culture recently hosted a captivating poetry reading session titled “When the Poem Blooms with Meaning” at the Kalba Literary Council. The event featured contributions from renowned poets Mulaf and Fatim Al-Haraz, who delighted the audience with their expressive works.
Among the distinguished attendees were Ahmed Obaid Al-Owaisi Al-Zabi, a member of the Sharjah Consultative Council, Abdullah Ghanem Al-Zabi, President of the Kalba City Heritage Council, Hashim Al-Bairaq, a member of the Kalba Municipal Council, and Rashid Mohammed Al-Zabi, Director of the Department of Culture in the Eastern Region.
Insightful Readings and Reflections
The gathering was moderated by journalist Abdullah Ahmed, who opened the session with a brief introduction to the poets’ illustrious careers. Mulaf commenced the readings with a heartfelt poem dedicated to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace. Her poignant verses celebrated the enduring legacy of Sheikh Zayed:
Following Mulaf, Fatim Al-Haraz mesmerised the audience with her own lyrical piece, infused with emotional depth:
A Fitting Tribute
As the session concluded, Rashid Mohammed Al-Zabi presented both poets with tokens of appreciation, recognising their significant contributions to the literary arts. The event not only highlighted the power of poetry but also reinforced the strong community ties within Kalba.
