His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Court, has officially approved the horse racing and equestrian competition programme for the 2026-2027 season. This initiative, held under his patronage, will feature endurance races at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba, beauty contests for Arabian horses organised by the Emirates Arabian Horse Society, along with speed races hosted at the Abu Dhabi Racecourse.
Celebrating the Heritage of UAE Equestrian Sports
In announcing the programme for the upcoming season, His Highness Sheikh Mansour emphasised that this year’s horse racing and equestrian competitions represent a continuation of the UAE’s longstanding commitment to supporting horse sports. He remarked that it is vital to preserve this rich heritage while continuing to develop it according to the highest standards of organisation and professionalism, thereby enhancing the nation’s esteemed position in the global equestrian landscape.
Sheikh Mansour further articulated that horses and equestrianism are intrinsic to the national identity and historical legacy of the UAE. “This legacy has been passed down through generations, maintained by our forefathers, and it is our responsibility to safeguard and cultivate it for future generations,” he stated. He reflected on the foundational role of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who instilled a sense of pride in these values within the community. Building on this legacy, the current administration remains dedicated to supporting riders, breeders, and owners while fostering an environment conducive to elevating the competition standards and enhancing the UAE’s prominence in equestrian sports on both regional and international stages.
Looking forward to a season full of competitions and achievements, Sheikh Mansour expressed enthusiasm in bringing together elite riders, owners, breeders, and horse enthusiasts from both within the UAE and abroad. “We aim to reflect the UAE’s expertise in managing horse racing and equestrian events,” he said. Additionally, he sees these sports as a bridge connecting generations with their heritage and as a platform for fostering communication and interaction among diverse peoples and cultures. He concluded, emphasising that Emirati youth should continue to upholding this esteemed legacy while contributing new chapters to the narrative of Emirati equestrianism.
