Dubai continues to dazzle residents and visitors alike with an exciting summer filled with events and experiences as part of the ‘Dubai Summer Surprises’, which runs until 30th August. This year’s programme includes a vibrant mix of musical concerts, comedy shows, family and sports activities, and cultural experiences, offering a variety of options for making the most of the summer days in a lively and entertaining atmosphere.
Unforgettable Experiences at ‘Madhesh World’
The ‘Madhesh World’ experience is nearing its conclusion for the season, as it warmly welcomes families at the Dubai World Trade Centre, offering a plethora of activities that blend play, entertainment, and education. This venue features dedicated play areas, workshops, theatrical performances, food stalls, and meet-and-greet opportunities with beloved characters ‘Madhesh’ and ‘Dana’, with free entry for all.
Additionally, the experience includes interactive workshops focused on artificial intelligence and robotics, tailored for children aged eight to 13. Visitors can enjoy the venue every day from noon until 10 PM in Sheikh Saeed Halls (1, 2, and 3), and holders of the ‘Ishaad’ card can benefit from an added 20% bonus when loading their play card.
A Celebration of Japanese Culture
Anime, manga, and Japanese culture enthusiasts will gather at the ‘GPX’ entertainment exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This immersive experience combines anime screenings, live performances, food, cosplay events, trading card games, and workshops, attracting fans of all ages. It brings together creators, artists, companies, and enthusiasts, transforming the concept of a traditional exhibition into a dynamic space for interaction and exploration of various aspects of contemporary Japanese culture.
Since its inception in 2018 by a group of Emiratis united by their passion for Japanese culture and traditions, ‘GPX’ has evolved into a gathering place for anime fans, voice actors, collectors, and those fascinated by Japan.
Musical Highlights
Music plays a pivotal role in the Dubai Summer Surprises lineup, with the ‘Beat the Heat’ concerts featuring renowned Arab artists across two evenings. These events celebrate the rich diversity of the Arabic music scene, spanning genres from pop and rock to hip-hop and childhood classics.
Artists such as Aziz Murka, Big Sam, and Lijy-C will come together for a night that showcases a fusion of different musical styles—for instance, Murka blends rock, jazz, and Arabic pop, while Big Sam brings his hip-hop flair, alongside Lijy-C’s rap and trap innovations. Another evening will evoke childhood nostalgia with performances by Tarek and Mohamed Al Arabi Torkan, reviving beloved songs connected to the ‘Spacetoon’ universe, creating a musical gathering that unites generations.
Indian Comedy Delight
The spotlight also shines on Indian comedy with Bollywood star Sunil Grover bringing his live comedy show to Coca-Cola Arena. The evening promises an interactive experience where Grover will revisit some of his most beloved characters from over the years, including ‘Gutthi’, ‘Dr Mashoor Gulati’, and ‘Rinku Bhabhi’, ensuring a night filled with laughter and entertainment.
Culinary and Community Experiences
In a fusion of food and local experiences, Mina Kitchen at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi is hosting ‘The Roast x Ripe Market’, which combines local projects and brands with live music and family activities. This event allows visitors to discover a range of local initiatives and products that originated in the UAE.
Active Summer in Dubai
Dubai Summer Surprises wouldn’t be complete without sporting activities. The series of indoor running events at Palm Jumeirah Mall provides participants a chance to experience a fitness journey in an air-conditioned setting, with options to run distances of 2.5, 5, or 10 kilometres, catering to various fitness levels.
