The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has launched an outreach initiative aimed at curbing the issue of car washing in unlicensed areas. This effort is part of the “Daruna Masoulityna” campaign, which seeks to raise community awareness about preserving the aesthetic and cultural integrity of the city while addressing negative practices that impact the quality of life in residential areas.
Engaging the Community
This campaign targets diverse segments of the community to inform them about the negative ramifications of washing vehicles in unauthorized locations. Such practices can lead to water accumulation on roadways and pathways, potentially impairing the city’s visual appeal and harming public health by attracting pests due to stagnant water.
Direct Interactions and Workshops
As part of the campaign, officials conducted field visits to various residential areas, fostering direct communication with community members and offering essential guidance. The initiative included workshops across different regions, focusing on illustrating the adverse effects of these non-civilized practices and emphasising each individual’s role in maintaining the city’s cleanliness and beauty.
Health and Environmental Concerns
Municipality inspectors highlighted during the outreach that random car washing can lead to dirt splattering on neighbouring vehicles due to the water sprayed during the process. This can create considerable inconvenience for residents and deteriorate the urban environment in residential regions. Inspectors urged the community to utilise licensed and designated areas for vehicle washing.
The campaign underscores the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a cleaner, more appealing environment for all residents of Abu Dhabi City.
