The Dubai Future Foundation has officially launched the Future of Autonomous Logistics Lab in collaboration with global company Oxa. This initiative aims to harness advanced technologies and future applications across various logistical and service sectors, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global leader in developing and delivering intelligent, autonomous logistics solutions.

Innovative Solutions through Knowledge and Experience

The newly opened lab, part of the “Dubai Innovation Research and Development Ecosystem,” focuses on creating knowledge-based, experiential solutions that address significant opportunities and emerging technologies both locally and globally. It seeks to enhance productivity across various sectors by introducing new avenues that increase economic value.

Aiming for Economic Growth by 2033

This joint project is set to contribute to the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33”, which aims to double the emirate’s foreign trade by 2033. The project will integrate autonomous driving technologies into a comprehensive product system, combining self-operating logistics services and data tracking and analysis from operational sites, thereby enhancing operational flexibility.

Opportunities in Ports and Airports

The lab will concentrate on exploring development opportunities for operating autonomous vehicles in ports and airports, with the first commercial operations expected to launch in Dubai by the end of 2027.

Commitment to Smart Solutions

According to Khalifa Al Qama, Head of Dubai’s Research and Development Ecosystem overseen by the Dubai Future Foundation, “Through the lab, we aim to develop new intelligent solutions in the logistics sector that contribute to creating new economic opportunities, keeping pace with rapid technological advancements and promising applications. This aligns with Dubai’s efforts to establish itself as a global centre for the future of logistics services.”

Advancements in Industrial Mobility

Paul Newman, Founding CEO of Oxa, emphasised that the project will contribute to the advancement of industrial mobility automation technologies, achieving new levels of efficiency, reliability, and safety for fleet operators.

Utilising Advanced Technologies

The lab will employ secure, customisable software and cloud-based fleet management systems, alongside Oxa’s devices specifically designed to operate with all types of equipment.
