Emirati Youth: The True Wealth of Our Nation

On July 29, 2026, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE and Deputy Prime Minister, visited the Sheikh Zayed Summer Festival in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi. The festival is renowned for its comprehensive mix of educational, entertainment, and cultural activities aimed at children and youth during the summer break.

Investing in Youth Skills

Accompanied by several prominent officials, including Thana Suhail, Minister of Community Development, and Hamid Al Niai, Director of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Mansour was briefed on the festival’s objectives and main themes. The event promotes the development of students’ skills, encourages creativity and innovation, and ensures the preservation of the UAE’s national identity and values.

Featuring a collaboration of over 30 national, academic, security, sports, and community institutions, the festival provides around 3,000 workshops and programs to nearly 10,000 students. This initiative is designed to maximise the potential of the summer vacation by investing in advanced skills and knowledge for the younger generation.

Supporting the UAE’s Talent at Shanghai 2026

During his visit, Sheikh Mansour also met with the Emirati team participating in the WorldSkills competition, set to take place in Shanghai in September 2026. The team, comprising 17 competitors, will represent the UAE in 16 technical and vocational skill competitions. Their preparation is overseen by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

Sheikh Mansour highlighted that the youth of the UAE are “the true wealth of the nation,” emphasising that equipping them with advanced skills and contemporary knowledge is the most vital investment for the future. He expressed confidence that this team would exemplify the potential of Emirati youth, showcasing their abilities to compete and innovate on an international stage.

A Vision for the Future

Sheikh Mansour remarked, “Our greatest bet is still on the human being. We want a confident, creative generation prepared for the future, carrying the nation’s flag and continuing the journey of development and achievement.” He also praised the unbounded ambition and high capabilities of the youth in the UAE, stating that they embody the spirit and passion for excellence inherent in the nation.

The WorldSkills competition is the largest international competition in skills, uniting youth from around the globe to compete across dozens of disciplines. It plays a crucial role in enhancing a culture of professional excellence, developing technical and vocational education systems, and linking skills to the current and future job market needs.

Sheikh Mansour’s visit to the Sheikh Zayed Summer Festival reaffirms the UAE’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering an environment where youth can excel and showcase their skills on the world stage.
