Support for summer programmes aimed at young people is a shared responsibility that requires the efforts of institutions and individuals alike, according to Sultan bin Hamid Al Owais, Business Development Director at Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Real Estate Group. He said such initiatives play an important role in making productive use of young people’s time, strengthening positive values, and developing their sporting, cultural and social skills.
Sport as a foundation for character
Al Owais said sport is a central pillar in shaping young people’s personalities, as it offers educational and behavioural values that help foster discipline, teamwork and a competitive spirit. He praised the significant role played by clubs and sports bodies across the UAE in offering quality programmes designed to identify talent and refine the abilities of the younger generation.

Summer programmes as a long-term investment
He noted that support for sport goes beyond sponsoring competitions and tournaments. In his view, it also means helping to create an integrated sporting environment that prepares generations with physical fitness and a strong understanding of the importance of regular exercise, adding that community sports initiatives are a long-term investment in people.
Speaking during his visit to the Sharjah suburb council in Al Raqa, Al Owais said the UAE offers a distinguished model in its attention to young people through the initiatives and programmes organised throughout the year by sports and community bodies. He added that these programmes become even more important during the summer break, as they provide a safe and purposeful environment that helps young people develop their abilities and make the best use of their energy.
He said summer programmes have become among the most important community initiatives because they give young people opportunities to engage in beneficial activities, gain new skills, strengthen their personalities, and uncover talents while developing abilities across different fields.
Shared responsibility across society
Al Owais added that social responsibility is not limited to government institutions, but also includes the private sector, business owners and community figures. Contributing to youth and sports initiatives, he said, is part of creating a positive impact that benefits society as a whole.
He also praised the “Sharjah Sports Summer” programme organised by the Sharjah Sports Council, saying it is an exemplary initiative that invests in the time of young people and children during the summer holidays by offering an integrated mix of sporting and educational activities that combine benefit with enjoyment.
He said the programme is not limited to sports practice alone, but also helps instil discipline, commitment and teamwork, while giving participants the chance to discover their talents.
